David Mark and President Jonathan, Okonjo-Iweala

Senate President, David Mark, had yesterday blasted the presidency for compounding the problems of Nigerians by creating untold hardship for the people due to poor budget implementation.

Senator Mark made this statement  during his opening remarks after the senate returned from its 8 weeks recess. He had stated that President Jonathan and his economic team should go for robust economic policies that will take Nigeria out of the current economic crisis instead of just chasing after shadows and coursing more problems for the nation.

He said: “Those who manage the nation’s economy cannot afford to chase shadows while the economy is in the doldrums. What Nigerians expect, and deserve, is the introduction of fiscal and monetary policies that will create jobs, fix healthcare and infrastructure, and stimulate the economy.”

Weekend Foodie, get set

Good old reliable chocolate chip cookie from Oro, and we mean that in the most flattering way possible. It will never let you down.

The day we have been waiting for anxiously all summer has arrived, Cocoron, of our beloved soba, has opened a larger location on Kenmare, less than 5 minutes away. They may still be working out logistical kinks, but our soba was as delicious as ever. Despite our practice of not repeating lunches before 6 weeks have elapsed, we may not be able to resist waiting another month or two before eating at Cocoron again.

Shopping on eBay's and its New look

As reported by Mashables, Web 1.0 mainstay eBay has unveiled a new company logo, ditching the floating letters for a more traditional, simple font, but with the same color scheme.
In a note on its site, eBay president Devin Wenig says the new logo is part of its effort to reinvent the 17-year-old brand and create a new eBay. Wenig says the site today offers a “cleaner” and “more consistent” experience than before and that the crisp letters in the logo reflect that. Retaining the color palette was important, however, since they represent eBay’s “connected and diverse” community of buyers and sellers, he wrote.

Prince Charles acquires 'NINJAS'

The Prince Charles Cinema has recruited a "ninja taskforce" to wear skintight, jet black "Morphsuits" and wait in the back of the theater, monitoring the crowd; if anyone whips out the phone and start pounding out texts, the spandex-clad cine-ninjas spring out and accost the cellular offender.

While texting moviegoers have long been a scorn to serious cinephiles, scorn and nasty looks have largely proven ineffective in warding off the unwelcome telecommunication. It so frustrated people at one theater in London, in fact, that they decided to take a real stand against the annoyance.

American Ambassador to Libya Killed Over Anti-Islam Film

LONDON - WikiLeaks has suggested on its Twitter feed that founder Julian Assange's continued need to hide in Ecuador's embassy in London may help explain the attack on the U.S. embassy in Libya, which killed the ambassador and three others this week.
While the reasons for the attack - from an anti-Muslim film to 9/11-related motivations - continue to be debated, the WikiLeaks comment led to a backlash from some Twitter users, according to the Guardian
"By the U.S. accepting the U.K. siege on the Ecuadorean embassy in London it gave tacit approval for attacks on embassies around the world," the WikiLeaks Twitter feed said.

Top 5 Bloggs to follow

The original blogs operated as little more than hobbies. Individuality was celebrated and bloggers' online diaries were a shop window for clothes they enthused about without any sense of editorial decorum. Bloggers either modelled the outfits themselves, or snapped others in looks they liked.

But as fashion sites proliferated, blogging became a genuine career for fashion fans. In 2010, US blogger Bryan Grey Yambao (who in 2008 famously had a Marc Jacobs bag named after him) boasted that he earned more than $100,000 a year from his website, bryanboy.com. Earlier this year, thesartorialist.com's Scott Schuman and Garance Dore were awarded a prestigious gong from the Council of Fashion Designers America.
